Lynn S. Zubernis, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and professor at West Chester University in Philadelphia. Dr. Zubernis has written/edited seven books, including a counseling textbook and six books on the positive impact of fandom and popular culture in people’s lives. She has over twenty years of experience as a clinician and a researcher, helping children, adolescents and adults dealing with anxiety, depression and other mental health challenges. Her book Family Don’t End With Blood, written with the actors from the television show Supernatural, offers a powerful perspective on confronting mental health issues and the importance of “always keep fighting,” and a portion of proceeds from the book benefits AIR’s important work – fighting the stigma around mental health and creating an environment in which people who need help are comfortable asking for it.
